We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our Malta Finance Department on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing cover and supporting the team across a broad range of financial accounting and reporting activities.The successful candidate will become an integral part of our efficient finance team, taking responsibility for month-end and day-to-day accounting activities while also supporting system optimisation, process improvements and automation initiatives.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Malta Financial Controller and work closely with other internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts within strict deadlines.
- Preparation and payment of regulatory gaming taxes.
- Assist in the reconciliation of inter-company transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly VAT returns
- Review of month-end P&L and Balance Sheet reports at trial balance level, ensuring reconciliations are maintained and variances are appropriately investigated and explained.
- Preparation of local statutory financial statements for all assigned entities.
- Manage relationships and reporting requirements with external auditors and other regulators.
- Provide payment approval for assigned entities.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required by the business.
- Support the Finance team with ongoing process optimisation, automation and system improvement initiatives.
- Provide effective cover and continuity across key finance activities throughout the 12-month assignment.
Competencies
- ACCA qualified and/or equivalent, with proven experience in statutory accounts preparation.
- At least 3 years' professional experience in a similar accounting or financial reporting role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.
- Moderate Excel skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity, accountability and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and meet strict reporting deadlines.
Considered a plus
- Experience working within a large multinational corporate environment, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience within the iGaming industry.
- Previous experience working with regulatory reporting and gaming taxation
