Software Engineer, Android

We're looking for an Android Engineer with strong foundations in Kotlin and modern Android development, who is eager to learn, improve, and take the next steps in their engineering career.

What You'll Do

Android Development & Craftsmanship

  • Design and implement Android features using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks.
  • Contribute to shared components and modules across multiple applications.
  • Work with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines / Flow, and established architectural patterns.
  • Follow and apply existing architectural guidelines while gradually contributing ideas for improvement.

Ownership & Delivery

  • Take ownership of features from development to release, with support from senior engineers.
  • Collaborate in planning, estimation, and delivery of Android work.
  • Help identify and fix bugs, performance issues, and technical debt.
  • Participate in incident analysis and contribute to long-term improvements.

Quality & Testing

  • Write unit tests and UI tests for new and existing features.
  • Follow team testing standards and help maintain a reliable test suite.
  • Work closely with QA and other engineers to ensure high-quality releases.
  • Learn and apply best practices around observability, stability, and performance.

Collaboration & Growth

  • Actively participate in code reviews, both giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, designers, and backend engineers.
  • Learn from senior engineers through pairing, reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Contribute to improving team practices, documentation, and ways of working.

Skills & Experience We're Looking For

Core Technical Skills

  • Solid experience building Android applications using Kotlin.
  • Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and Android Jetpack libraries.
  • Understanding of common Android architectural patterns (e.g. MVVM, Clean Architecture).
  • Experience writing unit tests and basic UI tests (Espresso or Compose).
  • Familiarity with Android performance basics, debugging, and profiling tools.
  • Experience integrating Android apps with backend APIs.
  • Working knowledge of Gradle, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

Professional Skills

  • A strong willingness to learn and grow as an Android engineer.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
  • Care for code quality, readability, and maintainability.
  • Clear communication and openness to feedback.
  • Comfortable working in an environment with shared ownership and responsibility.
